Street Stripes

I love this combination of casual and comfortable but I still feel stylish. There are jeans that are in my closet that have more of a "boyfriend" feel to them. They are relaxed but are still extremely flattering. Right now the weather keeps going back and forth between nice and cold - earlier this week it was 80 degrees one day and 40 the next. So I am looking forward to when the weather gets steady and spring will be here to stay.

The lighting in this picture is unaltered. I left it as it was without any editing, I thought it was pretty cool.

In between seasons is a great time to buy jeans you've been keeping your eye on and a few new items for the upcoming season. If there is something that I find, I try to keep my eye on it and wait for it to go on sale. Sometimes I know the impulse to not wait can be there, (which happens to me with items I really want), but watching out for great deals has allowed me to find some of my favorite pieces at a great price.

Sapphire Plaid

So as my love for plaid shirts continues to stay strong, even though the weather is changing, they are one of the items that easily transition from winter to spring. No matter the temperature, I'm always wearing them. But I will admit sometimes wearing them the same way all the time can get old. So I decided to change up the game and pair the shirt with a skirt instead of jeans or leggings.

So I thought I'd show off my fishnets. When wearing a long skirt, I'll throw on a pair of tights just for some extra hidden style. (I also wear tights for warmth in the winter.) Fishnets are a must have just like a LBD.

Skii High

As winter starts to slowly fade away, I know for a fact one thing I will miss is wearing all of my fun sweaters. I love the sweaters that are crazy prints and patterns, but especially those that use as many colors as possible. I was pleasantly surprised when I realized my Oil Slick Jeffrey Campbell Litas went very well with this seriously bright sweater. Another thing I love about winter is wearing tights. I'm always on the lookout for fun colors, styles and crazy patterns that are still very flattering. I've recently come across Pretty Polly tights. They are a brand from the UK and they have great quality tights. I have the tights below, plus another pattern and they are fantastic. They are not too sheer and are very warm.

Sewing Room Storage & Makeover

I'm constantly trying to find ways to maximize my space so that I have room to be able to work on sewing and crafts. I'd searched and searched online for ways for me to store most of my fabrics. Since college my fabric and sewing creations have been spread out in different places. From my room, and the garage, there just wasn't enough space for me to keep it all in one place. Then I noticed a lot of people using cube storage to hold all types of things. So I decided to give it a try.

I bought the ClosetMaid 12 cube storage shelf. They are sold in different sizes and colors, so you can get what you need based on your living arrangement. You can even add-on shelves to the existing one to make it bigger. (For example I can add another 3 cube shelf onto the organizer to make it longer.

The price ranges from about $40-$80. It's not bad for what I've been able to do with it. They also have colored collapsible drawers that you can add that hold quite a bit. I even found some smaller ones at Target that hold my other items like patterns. There is ample space on top that holds some of my other craft items so it's the perfect mix of storage space that has emptied a lot of unnecessary storage bins into one massive cube shelf.

Yes this room is full of lots of colors.

So here is a little piece of where I like to gather inspiration and create my many creations. Where do you all like to create?

Winter and Nature

In the midst of taking lots of pictures, I've captured some action shots of the birds and squirrels in the winter weather over the past few weeks. It's so cute to watch the birds digging for bird seed with their claws. The squirrel was so desperate, it was eating all of the corn and sunflower seeds meant for the birds. With my camera, I was also able to catch some shots of the snow falling from the sky.

Winter TIme Blues & My 1st Pair of Litas!

So winter can be full of surprises. From the overload of weather down here in the southeast and being sick while it's snowing outside was definitely not what I expected. The week after my last post, I became horribly sick and on top of that we had a whole lot of snow, snow and more snow. Since then, I've been trying to make a full recovery, which will take a while since the weather is 70 one day and 20 the next, literally. Plus I've been working on a few other projects that will show up in future posts.

Any who, I'm back, so thanks a bunch for hanging in there with me as I get back on track with posting. So I wanted to post this a little while back, but there is no time like the present. Over Christmas I hunted down a pair of Jeffrey Campbell Litas that I'd been watching. There are so many to choose from and even though I already have my DIY painted "Litas," the Oil Slick/Black Iridescent version of the real thing just kept plaguing my existence.

I had them in my cart ready to buy at Nasty Gal, but I guess other ladies were watching them too, because they were gone before I could blink. I ended up buying them from Tilted Sole. They sell a wide selection of name brand shoes. I had heard mixed reviews about them, but still went ahead and bought the Oil Slick boots because I couldn't find them anywhere else. And for those of you who know, there are only a few JC Litas that are staples, the rest are seasonal. If I didn't buy them I would have been out of luck.

So my overall review of Tilted Sole was like a 3.5 out 5 heel scale - yeah I just made that up! They were very attentive in letting me know that my original style was out of stock and offered me a different size, but at the same time, Tilted Sole sent me a message within an email that I had to open to find out this news. There was no immediate notification. So I ended up calling the customer service. The CS area must have been small because it allowed me to talk to the same young woman the entire duration of me getting this resolved.

She was very helpful in making sure that I got the boots and being able to actually talk to someone instead of a recording was very helpful. Depending on the Lita style, the size can range from being a 1/2 size smaller or bigger or they can be true to size. Since I had never purchased a pair, the CS woman actually asked around and other customers (we had multiple calls back and forth) about sizing. In the case of these Litas, they were true to size. When it comes to boots, I always order a 1/2 size bigger to make room for socks. I originally ordered a 7 and ended up with a 7.5 which was perfect.

I've had a chance to test drive them a little bit and they are as many have said, extremely comfortable. When they are broken in completely, I know I'll probably live in them. I love my snow, but I can't wait until the weather gets better so I can wear them out more often.

Wow, I think that has been the most I've ever written to you all. Okay now to the shoes...

This is my favorite picture. There was no alteration made to this picture. This is exactly how they look. I lucked up taking this on a bright and sunny day and they totally out shine every pair of shoes in my closet.

I've started coordinating these with a few outfits, but the warmer it gets, the more combinations I'll have.
